A Celebrant is someone who can conduct a personalised ceremony, be it a Wedding, Naming Ceremony or pretty much anything!
I specialise in Weddings……well, because I love Weddings!
No. Currently, Celebrants in the U.K. are unable to legally marry couples. You will need to Register your marriage at a Register Office in the County within which you live.
You’d think! If you’re not bothered about having a personalised service and meeting your Registrar an hour before the ceremony, then that would certainly be an option, but listen. I thought a Registrar was our only option and we missed out as a result. Your local Register Office will offer a simple service where you make your deceleration in front of an Authorised Official known as a Registrar and they will be able to legally marry you, there and then.
I will then conduct your personalised ceremony exactly how you want it.
As a Celebrant I am not restricted by rules, so I can conduct your Wedding Ceremony anywhere you want. It doesn’t have to be a licensed venue as it would do with a Registrar.
Currently in Milton Keynes for example, it costs £35 per person to give your notice of intention to marry
(which everyone has to do by law) and then their statutory marriage or Civil partnership in the Register Office Room costs just £46
Now, if you want to get married on a Saturday by a Registrar in a licensed venue in 2025, it’s £740.
What does this mean?
It means that even after paying for you ‘giving notice’ it works out cheaper to contact me and see if I’m available for your special day!
Absolutely anywhere you want! There is nothing restricting you as to where you can get married, unlike with a Registrar.
Jumping out of an aircraft at 15000 Feet (I highly recommend a skydive!), in your back garden, on top of a mountain or on a stand up paddle board in the middle of a lake (I promise I won’t charge extra if I fall in!)
Absolutely none.
Want me to wear a particular colour? I’m pretty sure I can do that. Some men can’t carry off pink but I’d give it a go for you!
Want to get married at 1am under a full moon? Absolutely fine with me….. although your guests might not be so keen.
Want to involve your pets in the ceremony? Let’s do it! Sounds fun.
Want to get married in the buff? Gulp…..ok, but I refer to my earlier comment about your guests!
Want your guests to have a glass of bubbly ready to toast you during the ceremony? We can do that!
Absolutely not. The only thing that would require a chat about cost is if you had any special requests, such as me dressed as your favourite Star Wars character…… which I would totally do FYI!
Before you can get married you need to ‘give notice’ with the Register Office in the area in which you live.
This needs to be done more than 29 days before your Wedding date, and once done you need to get married within 12 months.
Don’t forget, that is for the LEGAL marriage to each other, not for the ceremony if you are using a Celebrant. That Ceremony can be whenever you want!
